Together a Cock and
Dog traveled
spending that
evening in a tree
Cock above and Dog
below
With the coming of
dawn the Cock did crow
awakening a nearby
Fox
who thought
breakfast was calling
Fox found Sir Cock
and such praise he gave
Trying to coax with
vanity
but Cock knew
better then he
I will Sir Fox but
if you will please
first speak to the
porter below
in the hollow of
this tree
Unseen by Fox lay
Dog still sleeping
Fox cupped his
mouthed and yelled “hello!”
Waking Dog with a
startle
In a flash the
whole thing was over
The Cock came down
from the branches
The Fox laid dead
at Dog's feet
The Cock and Dog
had Fox for breakfast
moral : meet
cunning with cunning
it sounds too good
