do I struggle to stay awake

for many hours at a time

enough for me to lose my mind

you though you're past your prime

the pump to the mercury well

well, I'll get you and your dog too
too
much for your brain
brain
on the bottom of my shoe
shoo
the flies away
away
from my head
head
to the cemetery
cemetery
is what I said
said
you'll never forget the pain and aches
aches
that make you ask yourself why
